The Beach Boys "Do It Again" for their 50th Anniversary

Have you been living under a rock and didn't know that The Beach Boys are about to fill your longing-for-summer souls with more California surfer music from yesteryear? Well, look alive, people, because it just keeps happening!

Following up their Grammy performance and the announcement of a 50th Anniversary Tour, the band has
issued a new cover of their classic hit, “Do It Again”, keeping breath baited for their upcoming shows and new studio LP. The video features all surviving original members working in the studio (hugs!), along with some sexy snippets of the Cali coast. It will certainly bring a smile to your cold, February heart!

The Beach Boys Announce 2012 Tour Dates (Playing Beacon Theater)

BOOM. As foretold in ages long past (or pretty much exactly two months ago), surf rock legends The Beach Boys are celebrating their 50th anniversary with the year's highest-profile reunion tour and a new album. The band has now announced where and when that tour is taking place, and that list includes a two-night stand at our own Beacon Theater on May 8 and May 9.

Tickets are on sale for those two shows on February 21, and you can check out the full tour schedule below with onsale dates (thx BV). You can also check out that clip of them playing the Grammys with Foster The People and (ugh) Maroon 5 if you feel like it, that clip is below.

The Beach Boys Celebrating 50th Anniversary With Reunion (Including Brian Wilson), New Album, + Tour

Surf rock legends The Beach Boys made pretty much all of their fans extremely happy this past year with the release of the SMiLE Sessions Box Set, and it turns out that was a nice prelude for what they've got in store for 2012. To celebrate their 50th (!!!) anniversary, the band has announced that they're going on a 50-stop global CELEBRATION tour starting in April ... including Brian Wilson in the lineup of Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks. The first stop on this tour will be a headlining slot at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival running from April 27 to May 6.

Oh but wait there's more! The Beach Boys are also working on a new as-yet-untitled studio album that will hit shelves next year as well via Capitol / EMI. Expect a ton of commemorative reissues as well to come throughout 2012.

Check out the band's reunion announcement video below along with footage of them performing "Do It Again" for the new album. We'll keep you posted when the full tour dates are announced!

The Beach Boys are releasing single for Japan relief funds

Late for Record Store Day, but obviously not too late to raise money for a good cause, the Beach Boys will be releasing a new 7” single tomorrow (4/19) to raise money for victims of the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. The single will include the song “Don’t Fight the Sea” along with an unreleased a capella recording of the song “Friends,” originally recorded in 1968.

For vinyl fanatics, the first one thousand copies will be pressed on a limited edition white vinyl with a red label. The remaining will be pressed on regular black vinyl. All four remaining Beach Boys are on board with support for this release, and all proceeds are going to Red Cross Relief Japan.
