Holy Moly: Crossing Brooklyn Ferry Festival Coming In May (St. Vincent, The Walkmen, Sharon Van Etten, & More)

Have you ever gotten the feeling that someone out there has some sort of machine that reads your innermost musical wishes and turns them into reality? Maybe that's just me being kind of nuts, but that seems to be happening quite a bit lately. The latest case in point: a whole ton of our Future Nostalgia favorite artists and bands apparently met up in an Indie Rock Hall of Justice to put together an awesome new three-day music festival taking place here in NYC from May 3 through May 5.

The Crossing Brooklyn Ferry Festival is being curated by The National's Wonder Twins Bryce & Aaron Desner and will take place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM)'s own Howard Gilman Opera House and BAM Cafe. The lineup, of course, reads like an all-star lineup of indie rock greats:  The Walkmen, St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten, Beirut, The Antlers, Atlas Sound, Twin Shadow, Tyondai Braxton (formerly of Battles), and many more. There will also be films shown at BAM Rose Cinemas, and there will be a closing night DJ Pat Mahoney and Nancy Whang, the DFA heroes who were core members of LCD Soundsystem.

Yeah, so you want tickets. Three-day Fest Passes go on general sale on March 6, while day passes go on sale March 12. If you're a Friend of BAM, you get advance presales on March 5 and 8, respectively.

ATP I'll Be Your Mirror USA 2012 Festival Tickets On Sale Today, You Should Buy Them

Yep. We gave you quite a compelling reason to get psyched for All Tomorrow's Parties (ATP) upcoming I'll Be Your Mirror USA 2012 festival back in December, and in advance of general tickets sales kicking off TODAY (2/27) at 10am ET, ATP gave us a ton more:

"ATP are very pleased to confirm our return to Asbury Park, New Jersey USA with a new I'll Be Your Mirror event, the Saturday night of which will be headlined by The Afghan Whigs (who have reunited after a 13 year hiatus) and curated by their frontman Greg Dulli. Formed in 1986, the bands career from then until 2001 saw them release six acclaimed albums during their career. Fusing classic rock with grunge-era distortion and a heavy soul influence, The Afghan Whigs were one of the most renowned live bands of their time and ATP is excited to be a part of this long awaited reformation.

Future Nostalgia – The Antlers @ Webster Hall

The last time I saw The Antlers was when they opened for The National at The Electric Factory in Philadelphia two years ago. I was interested (Hospice had just been released) and I tried to pay attention, but it was not their crowd and not their venue and not their night.

Saturday at Webster Hall was a different story altogether. Returning from Turkey on December 6 and a long tour of the world including recent dates in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Sweden, they landed back at home in New York City.

At Webster Hall – Sold out fire-trap.

They hit the stage with “Parenthesis” from Burst Apart and within moments, they owned the room.

A four-piece now, with an additional guitarist, they soared through “No Widows,” and “Kettering”- the first song from Hospice and a reference to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the “world’s oldest and largest cancer center” located here in NYC.

After three songs, the crowd was rapt and avidly appreciating the song cycle that the band was unfolding.

Weezer, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, Gene Ween & more will play the Weezer Cruise

In what appears to be some sort of weird surreal dream I might've had as a fifteen-year old high on NyQuil, Weezer, Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, and Gene Ween will share the bill with many, many more, for the Weezer Cruise, which will take place from January 19-23 of 2012. The four day festival, which will also feature younger (and amazing) acts such as the Antlers, Yuck, Wavves, the Nervous Wreckords (featuring Brian Karscig of Louis XIV) and Boom Bip, will sail from Miami, FL to Cozumel, Mexico in one epic, unadulterated, wacky sea adventure in the name of indie rock. The website specifically states that bands will play multiple performances.

In addition to J Mascis and Lou Barlow performing in their respective bands, the two will perform solo sets throughout the cruise, meaning Lou Barlow will be pulling triple duty (Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr, and solo). I hope the guy packs his Dramamine. You can get the exact details of the pricing scheme over at the Weezer Cruise website, but the most basics I can find are that tickets will be sold individually at $799/person or at $599/person if you travel as a group of four. Pricey for sure, but not when you consider the fact that you will be on a cruise ship with some indisputable rock gods. If I get to share a beer with Lou Barlow, and high-five Gene Ween, then it's totally worth it.
