Family: the strongest bond of all. Forged in the deep, lava pits of Mordor, the bond of family is one that cannot ever be broken, one that will truly stand the test of time for all eternity, when good and evil come together and produce the fiery sounds of garage rock-revival music for the early 21st century, putting an end to human suffering for once and for all!! Phew!

Of course, I’m referring to The Cribs, who began their summer US tour last week and made a little pit-stop over at the Santos Party House on the way. To date, The Brothers Jarman have joined the ranks of some of my fave groups of brotherly love, alongside musical talents like The Jackson 5, Oasis, and the insurmountable musical genius of Hanson.

PANDA WATCH! As The Cribs kick off a summer US tour, their NYC show this Wednesday (aka, tomorrow, 6/6) has changed locales from Irving Plaza to Santos Party House. You can still get tickets ova here! And after seeing them this spring, we heartily suggest you do.

This version features a super special throw back to the days of VH1's Pop Up Video, a show that I clearly spent hours watching as an information-hungry young lass.

How's it going down there in Austin at SXSW, friends? Enjoying your reasonably priced breakfast tacos, rivers of sweet tea vodka, orgasmically great BBQ, and legions of great bands? I'm here in NYC hanging out and not being jealous of you one little bit... he said, lying through his teeth.

Even though I'm not at the Festival documenting every band and platter of ribs I eat, I did have the great pleasure of seeing British experimental art-poppers Django Django rock their second American show ever at Santos Party House on Monday night (3/12) before they headed down to Austin. They developed a cult following long before the release of their self-titled debut back in January, and at the show it was readily apparent why. The Dalston natives effortlessly layered '60s surf rock harmonies over '80s pop beats, psychedelic riffs, and synth goodness in a tight set that had the crowd dancing in the appropriately '80s neon lights of Santos.

Drummer Dave Maclean is the brother of The Beta Band keyboardist John Maclean, and at times you could definitely hear the similarities between the two bands. But Django Django's aptitude at blending the best of a wide variety of musical styles defies pigeonholing and is the mark of a band with great things ahead.

Check out some videos of the show below, courtesy of someone who was apparently standing about two feet in front of me (nice work!). The night also featured the impressively tight and wiry rock of Clock Opera (destined to be a Future Nostalgia favorite) and the shouting-girl-with-an-electronic-drum-kit stylings of Charli XCX (sorry, wasn't too into you this time around). Sure, I'll share my friend Anthony's video of Clock Opera playing once and for all, why not.

Django Django Playing Santos Party House Tonight (3/12)

Happy Almost Springtime, New Yorkers! It's a nice day to go out to see a show, and luckily for you there are a ton of bands in town from parts East on their way to the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas that kicks off tomorrow. It's like an indie rock version of Oregon Trail, only with less shooting of bison and dying of dysentery. Maybe.

One such band is Dalston, England psychedelic art-pop quartet Django Django, who got the crowds at Glasslands Gallery moving on Saturday at their first-ever American performance with their infection dance tracks. They'll be at Santos Party House tonight with fellow Brits Charli XCX and Clock Opera, and you can grab tickets to come see what's definitely going to be a hot show.
