HELL YES: Mission Of Burma Playing Music Hall Of Williamsburg On 1/19

Remember that time Mission of Burma completely kicked our heads' asses at Beekman?

Permit us to freak right the fuck out. Fucking Nostalgic patron saints Mission of Burma (seriously, they're one of this site's main inspirations) are hard at work on their next album, and recently confirmed two January shows in Boston. While we'd have been more than happy to roadtrip it up there to hang out, they've done us one better by announcing a NEW YORK CITY show on January 19, one day prior to their Boston shows.

Tickets are on sale this Saturday (12/3) at noon ET, and you would be completely silly to not come to this show.

Thanks guys, you've made our day.

Future Nostalgia: Atlas Sound Playing Annual Winter Shows At The Bell House & Bowery Ballroom

Future Nostalgia shines a spotlight on newer bands who, in our eyes, are on the cusp of achieving legendary status. These are acts we normally wouldn't feature, but feel so strongly about we just couldn't resist.

As we've hopefully made crystal clear by now, we're huge fans of Deerhunter frontman and Atlas Sound mastermind Bradford Cox. Which is why we're psyched to share that, even though Deerhunter as a whole won't be back in NYC anytime soon, Cox will be back on December 17 and 18 for his annual winter shows in NYC to play songs from his new (and excellent) Atlas Sound album Parallax.

The shows will take place at The Bell House and Bowery Ballroom, and tickets are on sale for the Bell House show right now; you'll have to wait until Friday (11/25) for Bowery tickets. Definitely make it happen, folks - and in case you haven't heard Parallax yet, Spotify has you covered. (Cheers to BV for the tip.)

Shonen Knife Playing The Bell House On 11/18, Releasing A Christmas Single

I interviewed Naoko Yamano way back in the day, check it out!

While we unfortunately missed Shonen Knife when they came to NYC for CMJ, the legendary Japanese punk rockers are giving us another chance a little over a week from now when they come back to rock The Bell House next Friday (11/18). Tickets are still available, so grab one and come have a beer with us at the show.

The band will also be wrapping up their yearlong 30th Anniversary celebration by releasing a new Christmas Maxi Single juuuuust after Thanksgiving on November 29. The single will include studio and acoustic cuts of the seasonally-appropriate song (accept it, Christmas is just a little over a month away) "Sweet Christmas," plus their take on the classic "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." (Thanks to BV for the tip)

Check out the single teaser below via Good Charamel. Since this is a Shonen Knife song, there is understandably some delicious cake involved.

Sebadoh Return To NYC/NJ This Weekend To Rock Our Faces Off + ATP In March

One of the very first shows we covered on this site was Sebadoh at Bowery Ballroom in April, which was subsequently the last time they were in New York City. And now that they’re coming back, we’re pretty thrilled. If you’re in the New York City area, you have two opportunities to catch the band this weekend. Tomorrow night Sebadoh will play Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ, and then on Saturday night they will melt faces in Brooklyn at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Tickets are sold out for Maxwell’s but you can still nab one for MHOW.

My pick of the two goes to Maxwell’s--mainly because I just love that venue, it’s incredibly small, and the sound is pretty phenomenal. Check Craigslist for people getting rid of extras. But if you’re too lazy to take the 10 minute bus ride out to Jersey, then you’re better off sticking to Brooklyn (you lazy, lazy person). Anyway – we’ll be covering both shows, so be sure to check back for photos and reviews. We have our fingers crossed for new material (at least that’s what Lou semi-promised when I spoke to him in May), so we’ll be sure to report back to you on that.

And don’t forget, Sebadoh is still confirmed to play the Jeff Mangum-curated ATP in Minehead as announced earlier today. Tickets--for those who didn’t already purchase them before the original December dates were cancelled-- are on sale now.

OH FUCK YES: RADIOHEAD PLAYING NYC'S ROSELAND BALLROOM ON 9/28 AND 9/29

Now we get to see this happen in person!
YES YES YES YES YES. In what was pretty much the worst-kept secret in secret concert news history, Radiohead has absolutely made my birthday week by announcing that they'll be playing NYC's Roseland Ballroom on September 28th and 29th. According to the press release, tickets will go on sale next Monday (9/26) at 10am ET via Ticketmaster - two-ticket limit per household, with tix available for pickup at 6:30pm the nights of the shows. Get the Ticketmaster links for both shows (here and here) up in 20 browser tabs each at 9:59am ET, and good luck to you.

YES YES YES YES FUCK YES.
