M83 releases new video for "Reunion," playing two NYC shows

m83

by John Dabrowski

There is nothing more powerful than a child’s spirit. Anthony Gonzalez knows this all so well. With the release of Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, M83 infused the themes of exuberance and innocence inside a tight, electronic pop album that defined the sound of 2011. The video for the massive “Midnight City” followed a gaggle of kids with telekinetic powers that breaks free from the institution holding them down, and now, with the release of “Reunion,” we now see their defiance, their heart, their ability to triumph over anything that stands in their way. Once again, M83 encapsulates the perfect snapshot of the power and potential that youth holds. Watch the video below (be on the lookout for a hidden Adam Yauch tribute)...

To further add to your obsession with M83’s “Reunion,” discover the Reunion EP, with remixes by The Naked and Famous, Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, and Mylo. Listen to the Mylo remix below.

FN News Roundup: March 21, 2012

This is a great day INDEED.

...Sooo, hey there, readers of The Guardian! We're glad you like our name, and we're working on getting an Editor to exclusively cover soundtracks to '80s porn. Maybe.

But anyway, it's News Roundup time, and as the photo above implies we've got some GREAT stuff to share.

  • Clearly Headline News: The Pied Piper of R&B R. Kelly will officially be back with NEW EPISODES of the greatest TV show ever that isn't The Wire, Trapped In The Closet, later this year. We want to give whoever wrote this press release a high-five (IFC)

  • We all got very psyched about the upcoming At The Drive-In reunion, but let's not forget that Cedric & Omar are still kicking some prog rock ass with The Mars Volta. And now you can stream their latest LP, Nocturniquet, in full over at Rolling Stone (RS)

  • Jack White is playing Roseland Ballroom on May 23 & 24!! (Tickets at LiveNation starting 3/23)

  • ...Jack White also isn't about to reunite The White Stripes. And apparently isn't an Andy Pettitte fan? (Prefix)

  •  M83 will continue riding high on the massive success of last year's Hurry Up We're Dreaming LP with the new Reunion EP, featuring the single and remixes from Mylo (oh hey whoa!), The Naked And Famous, and more. (Mute / Pitchfork

  • And finally, check out the new video for The Cribs' "Come On, Be A No-One" after the jump (Some Kind of Awesome)

Future Nostalgia: M83 Playing Ultra Festival, Coachella, Summerstage, + More

Anthony Gonzalez and his electro-shoegaze project M83 had a pretty huge 2011, playing sold-out crowds worldwide in support of the excellent double album Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. With that much goodwill under their belts, it's understandable that that trend will continue in 2012.

M83 already have dates booked up through August 8, where they'll be playing NYC's own Central Park Summerstage. Those of you who are already getting amped for summer will be able to pick up tickets for that beginning at noon ET this Friday, January 20. Tickets to their May 10 show at Terminal 5 are already gone, but give CL or StubHub a shot.

Check out a list of their key US 2012 tour dates below, including stops at Miami's Ultra Fest and Coachella 2012 - a full on list of worldwide shows is also available at ilovem83.com. I also threw in the video for "Midnight City" because it's still really awesome and I want it to become some kind of web or TV series. Kids with superpowers, y'all.
