Hey babies! Here's some news you can read to pass the time while waiting to get rocked in the face by Pulp at Radio City Music Hall, if you're lucky.

• Let's start off with a case of Festival Envy: Lollapalooza has announced the lineup for the 2012 iteration of the Chicago event, including The Afghan Whigs, Jack White, Black Sabbath, The Black Keys, At The Drive-In, Sigur Ros, Bloc Party... oh yeah and Red Hot Chili Peppers (Lollapalooza)


• Hip-hop legend / A Tribe Called Quest former frontman Q-Tip has signed to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, and will be releasing a new solo album, potentially called The Last Zulu, sometime next year. He's also been in the studio with Kendrick Lamar and Fiona Apple, because obviously. • In "Fucking Adorable" news, tUnE-yArDs has a new video out for w h o k i l l leadoff track "My Country." Check it out after the jump, and be sure to support the warpainted kids in the video by funding the San Francisco Rock Project Lending Library on  Kickstarter (Kickstarter)

• Check out a new single from Aaron Freeman (a.k.a. Gene Ween)'s upcoming album Marvelous Cloud, "Love's Been Good To Me, and be sure to pick up a ticket to see him perform at 92Y Tribeca on May 9 a day after the album's release! (Stereogum)


• The leadup to Jack White's new album Blunderbuss (out April 23) gets weirder and weirder, as evidenced by the new video for "Sixteen Saltines" that you can watch below the lunch (NME)


• The Queen of Loops and Warpaint tUnE-YaRdS is coming back to NYC to rock us again at Terminal 5 on June 1! Woohoo! Michachu and the Shapes and Delicate Steve will support (The Bowery Presents)


• Know who else is coming to Terminal 5? The Gossip, who will be celebrating the release of their new album A Joyful Noise on the day it comes out. Check the video for album cut "Perfect World" after the jump (BrooklynVegan)

News Roundup: February 21, 2012 ("A Ton Of Stuff Happened" Edition)

Yo. So as always seems to be the case after a long weekend, a TON of cool announcements dropped today. The FN staff is scrappy, sure, but still rather small (wanna join us?), so we couldn't grab up everything today.

When that happens, we turn to the informative power of... THE NEWS ROUNDUP!... to give you guys all the tips, links, and general goodness we saw out there and smiled and nodded at. Lots of really good stuff today too, so check it below:

--- Pulp added a second show at Radio City Music Hall - tickets are on sale now.

--- Speaking of legendary Brit-pop acts, Blur played The Brit Awards this evening (via CoS)! Check out some videos. They're also headlining the London 2012 Olympic Closing ceremonies, along with The Specials and, oh, NEW ORDER.

--- Rufus Wainwright is coming back to Amurrica in May, including a local show at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on May 9. Presale tickets are on sale now, as are just general tickets to shows taking place shortly after in California.

--- tUnE-yArDs! Her crazy awesomeness is going on a big Summer 2012 Tour, including a stop at Terminal 5 on June 1. No one really likes T5, but she has a way of making everything excellent, so buy a ticket to that or other shows on the East Coast and briefly in Canada.

--- Matador unveiled the third single from Ceremony's upcoming album, Zoo, called "Adult." This album is clearly going to rule.

--- Public Image Ltd. revealed more details about that upcoming album we told you about (via P4K).

2012 American Songbook Season Adds Thurston Moore, Merrill Garbus (tUnE-yArDs), & More

Known for its diverse array of performers and styles, Lincoln Center's celebrated American Songbook series is returning on January 12 to explore the best in American popular song across all genres. A couple of notable indie rock names on the roster, however, are Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore (who we're kind of huge fans of here) as well as Future Nostalgia candidate Merill Garbus, a.k.a. tUnE-yArDs (who coincidentally enough covered Sonic Youth earlier this year). 

Thurston Moore will be rocking a solo acoustic set on February 2, while tUnE-yArDs will nab the February 9 slot at NYC's world-renowned music and arts center. Tickets are onsale beginning November 14 - check out the American Songbook website for further details on packages and the full lineup of artists for the month.
