Gene Ween To Release Solo Album "Marvelous Clouds"

Ween co-frontman Gene Ween (a.k.a. Aaron Freeman) and bassist Dave Dreiwitz  are getting ready to board the Weezer Cruise next week, but Freeman himself has another fun project in store for us this spring. He's releasing a solo LP called Marvelous Clouds on April 10 via Partisan Records, and it will be a full-album tribute to acclaimed '60s songwriter Rod McKuen.

If you missed out on getting tickets to what was surely an insane Halloween party with Ween back in October (don't feel bad, we didn't make it in either), then the next best thing was seeing co-frontman Aaron Freeman (a.k.a. Gene Ween) along with Ween's bassist Dave Dreiwitz at Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday. Together, and along with cellist Jane Scarpantoni and Freeman's daughter Anna Freeman, the band performed a 25-song set, including Ween favorites "I Don't Want To Leave You on the Farm," "What Deaner Was Talking About," and probably my all-time favorite Ween song, "Birthday Boy."

If you happen to find yourself in Denver, CO towards the end of the year, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket to see Ween at the Fillmore Auditorium on December 29, 30 or 31 (New Year’s Eve). Tickets are currently on sale for all three dates, with a special 3-day package option available. Ween playing Hammerstein Ballroom on Halloween

Well it looks like my friends and I have our Halloween plans set this year. Ween has just announced they'll be playing the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on October 31 and tickets are currently on pre-sale. If you miss out on those, you can grab a general sale ticket this Friday, July 29 at 10 am. There are no openers for the show, so expect at least three hours from your favorite weirdo-psychedelic-rock band, while hundreds of fans [on drugs] surround you in ridiculous costumes. Gonna rock.
