So now after all the waiting, the updates, the events, and the passing of the 20th Anniversary of the album itself on Saturday, today is the day that Nirvana's Nevermind 20th Anniversary reissues hit stores. And in honor of that release, VEVO will be streaming the band's Live At The Paramount 1991 concert (included in the Super Deluxe reissue package) starting in just under an hour for a full 24 hours, commercial-free.

Listen: Three Unreleased Alternate Version Tracks From Nirvana

As we're now within days of the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind (and, lest we forget, A Tribe Called Quest's The Low End Theory), it's understandable that some of the awesomeness in the upcoming deluxe reissue would start to leak out. And thanks to Seattle's 107.7 The End, we're now able to check out a bit of what we have in store: namely, three unreleased alternate, demo, and live versions of seminal Nirvana tracks "Breed," "On A Plain," and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" respectively.

Check them out over at The End's website, and check out the special Nevermind 20 site to see original fan artwork, dedications, and other cool memorabilia in honor of the album.

Jon Stewart To Host Q&A Session With Former Nirvana Members In September

Via Babble
With its 20th anniversary just under a month away, there are no shortage of cool things happening to commemorate Nirvana's Nevermind. We've mentioned (a few times) that deluxe reissue and more recently the news that former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic will be performing ONE song from the seminal album in Seattle on September 20 (thanks to an anonymous tipster for the heads up), but our friend The Backstage Rider just tipped us off to news that totally ratchets up the awesomeness of this celebration.

SiriusXM has just announced that none other than JON FUCKING STEWART from Death To Smoochy... err, The Daily Show will be hosting a fan-fueled Q&A session with surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic that the network will stream for two hours on September 24. The Q&A will also feature an appearance by Butch Vig, the producer behind Nevermind.

Stewart obviously brings an amazing level of depth and insight to anything he touches, so you're definitely going to want to tune in!

Krist Novoselic To Perform Nirvana's Nevermind In Its Entirety With Seattle Musicians

Soooo, remember how we said there would be some cool special events leading up to the release of the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue of Nirvana's Nevermind? Well, one day after the 20th anniversary of the shoot of the genre-defining "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music video comes news from Pitchfork (via Seattle's 107.7 The End) that Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic will be leading some of Seattle's finest musicians through a performance of Nevermind in its entirety.

Set to take place on September 20 at the Sky Church as part of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, Novoselic will be joined by The Fastbacks, Vaporland, The Long Winters, Visqueen, Campfire OK, Valis (with former members of Screaming Trees), Ravenna Woods and more TBA. Per the news release, the show will double as a benefit for famed Seattle music industry maven Susie Tennant, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

As awesome as it would be, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl will unfortunately be elsewhere that day with the Foo Fighters. If you're going to be in the area on the 20th, however, tickets are onsale for only $20 ($15 if you're an EMP member), so definitely make it happen.

And Krist - if you're reading this, we're glad you liked our photos from the Sonic Youth show this past weekend!

Spin Magazine, never one to shy away from their gushing over Nirvana (that’s their most recent cover above), has tapped some of indie rock’s most promising acts, as well as the grunge band’s peers to cover the much beloved breakthrough album Nevermind, track-for-track. Featuring obvious acts such as Meat Puppets and The Vaselines, Newermind (as it has unfortunately been dubbed) also has younger bands such as Titus Andronicus and Jeff the Brotherhood covering “Breed” and “Something in the Way” respectively. You can download the entire tribute album for free over at Spin’s Facebook page.

Nirvana's "Nevermind" To Receive Deluxe Reissue Treatment For Its 20th Anniversary

Nirvana, one of the most influential bands of all time (and one that we all feel very Fucking Nostalgic about), changed the world of rock music as we know it on September 24, 1991 with the release of its second studio album, Nevermind. And as our friends at Slicing Up Eyeballs reported this morning, the millions of fans that that seminal record touched will be able to pick up a new Deluxe Edition on September 19th in the UK and September 20th in North America, just days before Nevermind's 20th anniversary.

A post on Nirvana's website goes into all of the details around the Nevermind reissue, with Universal Music Enterprises noting that that it will be a "4 CDs / 1 DVD Super Deluxe Edition" that will include "previously unreleased recordings, rarities, B- sides, BBC Radio appearances, alternative mixes, rare live appearances" - and the most mindblowing part of all - "an unreleased concert in its entirety on DVD."

Universal Music also revealed that the 20th anniversary of Nevermind will also be marked in the months leading up to the Deluxe Edition release with special events and additional releases. We'll continue to provide updates on these celebrations as we learn more - needless to say, we're VERY excited.
