Watch: Cat Power -- "King Rides By" (Official Music Video) + Download Track For Charity

Check out Debbie's photos and review of Cat Power @ Webster Hall!

Happy Christmas Eve, y'all! As she announced late last week, the lovely (and apparently gangsta) Cat Power is in the process of wrapping up her as-yet-untitled new album. While we wait for more news on that, she's teamed up with boxing champ Manny Pacquiao to release a video for an extended and reworked version of "King Rides By" from 1996's What Would The Community Think in which Pacquiao punches a bag in slow-motion. Yup.

Check it out below the jump via Matablog - Ms. Marshall and Pacquiao have also gotten into the holiday spirit by releasing the MP3 of the track in exchange for a donation that will go to the Festival Of Children Foundation and The Ali Forney Center. It's a cool song for two great causes, so go for it!

Cat Power To Play NYC's Webster Hall On 8/26

Mysterious songwriters move in mysterious ways, so naturally I was surprised when The Bowery Presents announced today that Cat Power - a.k.a. Chan Marshall, the soulful whispery-voiced oldschool crush of pretty much every red-blooded indie rock guy (this writer included) - will be stopping by NYC's Webster Hall on Friday, August 26. Tickets are on sale this Friday at noon, with an AmEx presale starting tomorrow.

While she has yet to announce a new album, Marshall has reportedly been writing and recording the follow-up to 2008's Jukebox and even road-testing new songs. Check out one of said songs, an untitled ballad she debuted earlier this year in San Francisco, below, as well as the video for "He War" because that song is still totally fucking awesome.
