The Raincoats reissuing Odyshape, playing Brooklyn's Warsaw
One of my favorite post-punk bands, The Raincoats, will reissue one of my favorite post-punk albums, Odyshape, on September 13th. Though the album was originally released by Rough Trade, the band have taken it upon themselves to remaster the record and release it on their own We ThRee label. This remastered version of Odyshape will be available on both vinyl (yay!) and CD. According to Pitchfork, the release will also include liner notes written by Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon.
In celebration of the reissue (there seems to be a lot of reissuing going on these days), the Raincoats will embark on a short tour, beginning at Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Warsaw on 9/16. Tickets are on sale now. The band will eventually end their tour at Montreal’s Pop Montreal festival, but will make a one-off appearance at the Jeff Mangum-curated ATP England in December.
All tour dates are listed below…
9/16 Brooklyn, NY - Warsaw
9/17 Washington, DC - Comet Ping Pong
9/19 Chicago, IL - Double Door
9/21 Detroit, MI - Museum of Contemporary Art
9/23 Toronto, ON - Wrongbar
9/24-25 Montreal, QC - Pop Montreal
12/3 Minehead, England - ATP
