Watch Black Star Perform (With The Roots) On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

The legendary duo of Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (man it's gonna take awhile to stop calling him Mos Def) gave us a taste of their upcoming Aretha mixtape around Thanksgiving times  with "You Already Knew." Last night, they kicked 2012 off right with a Late Night With Jimmy Fallon performance during which they rocked not only that song live with The Roots but also - hold onto your damn hats, hardcore fans  - "Little Brother," a J Dilla-produced cut that only appeared on the soundtrack to the movie The Hurricane.

Watch both performances below, along with a little vignette of Roots drummer / DJ / vinyl master Questlove discussing the origin of "Little Brother" and how he was in the room when Dilla made the beat for it. Classic stuff, you guys.

Stream Thom Yorke's (Radiohead) Two-Hour BBC 6 Radio Mix

As one might guess from their name, Radiohead seems to be loving the radio a lot lately, with three of the band's five core members popping up on different shows in their native UK throughout the past week. That run culminated last night with frontman Thom Yorke stopping by BBC 6 to take over the station and spin two hours' worth of his favorite tracks, including cuts from Erykah Badu, Low, J Dilla, and Flying Lotus, and even some Radiohead remixes and B-sides.

Check it out on BBC 6's site all throughout this week (until they post the next episode on Saturday, apparently). Good stuff as always.

J Dilla Estate releasing new album

According to Hip Hop DX, the estate of the late hip-hop producer J Dilla will be releasing an album of unreleased music from Dilla entitled The Rebirth of Detroit. Read the article and see if you can make sense of exactly what Rebirth will consist of. “Completely new material and ideas” from a producer who passed away 5 years ago is confusing. Help me out here.
