FN News Roundup: April 23, 2012

Cat Power @ Webster Hall, 8/26/11

Hey everyone! Thanks again for coming through to our 1st Anniversary Party over the weekend, and special thanks to EULA, Grandfather, The Barrens, ZZZ's, Liquid Light Lab, and Fontana's Bar  for everything they did to make it kick so much ass. More goodness to come soon, but in the meantime, have a whole ton of news!

  • At long last, Cat Power will be releasing her new studio album, Sun, on September 11 via Matador Records! (Stereogum)

  • Meanwhile, her contemporary Fiona Apple is building up to the release of her own long-awaited new studio album, The Idler Hand... (out June 18 on Epic), with the LP's first official single. Stream "Every Single Night" after the jump! (FADER)

  • With Hole back in the public eye recently for cool and not-quite-so-cool reasons, a new clip of former frontwoman Courtney Love and Nirvana's Kurt Cobain surfaced over the weekend: a duet entitled "Stinking Of You" (Consequence of Sound)

  • Despite the rain and subsequent cold here in NYC, summer is definitely right around the corner, as heralded by the release of the Central Park Summerstage lineup featuring Kurt Vile, Alabama Shakes, Gary Clark Jr. and more (BrooklynVegan)

  • Finally, bask in some of the limited edition bounty from this past weekend's Record Store Day with new singles and B-sides from St. Vincent, Beach House, Sigur Ros, and Animal Collective (All Via Pitchfork)
