Krist Novoselic To Perform Nirvana's Nevermind In Its Entirety With Seattle Musicians

Soooo, remember how we said there would be some cool special events leading up to the release of the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue of Nirvana's Nevermind? Well, one day after the 20th anniversary of the shoot of the genre-defining "Smells Like Teen Spirit" music video comes news from Pitchfork (via Seattle's 107.7 The End) that Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic will be leading some of Seattle's finest musicians through a performance of Nevermind in its entirety.

Set to take place on September 20 at the Sky Church as part of the Experience Music Project in Seattle, Novoselic will be joined by The Fastbacks, Vaporland, The Long Winters, Visqueen, Campfire OK, Valis (with former members of Screaming Trees), Ravenna Woods and more TBA. Per the news release, the show will double as a benefit for famed Seattle music industry maven Susie Tennant, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

As awesome as it would be, former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl will unfortunately be elsewhere that day with the Foo Fighters. If you're going to be in the area on the 20th, however, tickets are onsale for only $20 ($15 if you're an EMP member), so definitely make it happen.

And Krist - if you're reading this, we're glad you liked our photos from the Sonic Youth show this past weekend!

  1. looks like Krist isn't doing all of nm. from his twitter: @KristNovoselic Krist Novoselic. I am performing a Nevermind song with PUSA at the EMP on 9/20 not the whole album! Look forward to the event to help @susietennant get well!
