Check Out The New Dinosaur Jr. Song "Watch The Corners"
We're continually excited about any news out of the Dinosaur Jr. camp. Now, a little over two weeks after the band revealed their trippy album art and tracklist for upcoming album I Bet On Sky (out on September 18 via Jagjaguwar), we have our first taste - er, listen - to the LP in the form of "Watch The Corners."
Check it out on Rolling Stone over here - it's a scorching track for what's looking to be a scorching NYC summer day.

Cat Power Releasing New Album In September - Listen To The 1st Single Now
The beautiful and enigmatic Chan Marshall, a.k.a. Cat Power, has been a lot less enigmatic as of late, dropping some great live performances over the past few months and hinting at new material on the horizon. Well that new material will finally arrive in album form on September 4 via Matador Records.
Called Sun, the LP will be her first collection of original material since 2006's The Greatest. You can get a taste of it below with the leadoff single "Ruin" - click that YouTube link and download the MP3 as well. According to PFork, the completion of the record (as well as the haircut Chan's sporting on the cover) coincided with her split from boyfriend Giovanni Ribisi, thus making Giovanni Ribisi one of the dumbest men ever.

Hot Chip Get You Dizzy With "Flutes" (+ More 2012 Tour Dates)
Oh man. Having seen Al Doyle kick a ton of ass in affiliated band New Build (more on that later), the return of British dance wizards Hot Chip is even more exciting than when we first reported it. They just put out a (very dizzingly) in-studio video for the leadoff single "Flutes" from their upcoming album In Our Heads (out June 6), and today Pitchfork reports they've announced even MORE summer tour dates, including a stop at our very own Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn on July 18. We'll keep you posted on the ticket sale date.
Check out the video for that single along with all of the tour dates announced so far below!

The Cribs Releasing New Album In May + Spring 2012 Tour Dates
Following a spate of festival appearances and the notable departure of legendary The Smiths / Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr from their ranks, British indie rockers The Cribs are getting set to release their fifth full-length album on May 8 via Wichita Recordings. Entitled In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull, the LP finds the Wakefield natives back in their classic trio lineup with 14 new tracks, the names of which you can check out after the jump.
For a little taste of what this new record will sound like, you can grab its first Steve Albini-produced single "Chi-Town" right over here. The Cribs will be hitting the road in April and May for North American and UK tours, respectively, stopping by Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on April 13. A limited number of tickets to the North American shows will be available for presale on the band's Facebook page beginning this Thursday (February 16), so hop on that goodness.

The Cranberries Are Releasing A New Album, Played Fallon Last Night, Heading On Tour
Even as a site that trucks in nostalgic / veteran acts, we're still pretty amazed at all of the acts we've been seeing reunite and get ready to release new albums. Add '90s Irish alt-rockers The Cranberries to the list - they're putting out their first new album in 11 years, Roses, on February 28 via Downtown, and last night they stopped by the extremely-well-booked Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to rock through the album's first single, "Tomorrow." (Hat Tip: Stereogum)
Check out the clip below along with a web-exclusive performance of the classic "Dreams" (you can't NOT know that song, give it a listen). Dolores O'Riordan and the gang also confirmed today that they'll be playing a spate of East Coast and Canadian tour dates in May, bringing them to our acclaimed (he said with heavy sarcasm) Terminal 5 on May 4. Tickets for that show are onsale on February 17, and you can check out their website to see when they're coming to a city near you - because they probably are, given that massive touring schedule.

Luscious Jackson Reunite For New Album (+ Stream First New Single)
Well here's some news that we definitely weren't expecting to hear this morning. Remember the '90s alt-rock all-female trio Luscious Jackson? Who made that song "Ladyfingers"? Well yeah, let's go ahead and put another notch in the Nostalgic Band Reunion column.
As Rolling Stone reports, after quietly getting back together last year after disbanding in 2000, the band is set to release a follow-up to 1999's Electric Honey funded by fan donations through PledgeMusic. RS has the exclusive interview with bassist Jill Cundiff on the new project and the band's reunion, along with a stream of their new single "Are You Ready?" which finds the trio not skipping a beat at ALL in the 12 years since they've been gone. Check it out over here.

Lockett Pundt Announces New Album & Releases New Single (+ Spring 2012 Tour Dates)
We give a ton of credit to frontman Bradford Cox for the continuing greatness of the Atlanta ambient punk band Deerhunter, but anyone who got lost in tracks like "Desire Lines" and "Fountain Stairs" off of Halcyon Digest knows how crucial guitarist Lockett Pundt is to the group's appeal. Pundt's 2009 solo album under his Lotus Plaza moniker, The Floodlight Collective, is an outstanding headphones-in-a-moonlit-room listening experience, and as Pitchfork reports, he's ready to release a follow-up album this spring entitled Spooky Action At A Distance.
The album drops on April 2 via Kranky and will be the focus on Pundt's upcoming tour that's starting on March 7 at Atlanta's 529. He'll swing up this way to play Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn on April 19 with labelmates Disappears - tickets for that show are available now, and it's likely the best $12 you'll spend today. Check out more tour dates along with the album tracklist after the jump.
To get a sense of where his head's at for this album, you can check out the new 10" split single that will come out on Valentine's Day via Audraglint. It features a new 9-minute shoegazey Lotus Plaza track called "Come Back," along with a song recorded as Nice Weekend with his fiancee Shayda Yavari. Stream the Lotus Plaza track after the jump or check out the full split single over on Spotify.

Deerhunter Releases New Single
Our faces and ears are still kind of melty, rocked-out messes after seeing Deerhunter at Webster Hall last August, so it is with melty, rocked-out excitement that we heard about Deerhunter’s latest released single, “Curve.”
The instrumental song appears on the compilation We are The Works in Progress, carefully pieced together by Blonde Redhead to benefit Japan following the 2011 tsunami. Stream it in all its hazy goodness below the jump.
The 14-song compilation will also feature tracks from Interpol, Liars and Four Tet, and is set for a February 7th release as a double LP. You can pre-order that shizz right here. As an added bonus, all proceeds from these sales will go to the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Architecture for Humanity. Your ears will thank you, and you can get that good deed in for today. BOOYA. (Hat tip: Pitchfork)

Jack White Announces Debut Solo Album
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day, Jack White? Thou art more lovely, though maaaaybe not-so-much temperate. As you and Third Man Records unleash your solo LP, Blunderbuss, on our ears, what will become of them?
They'll likely melt in a bluesy, rocked out funk, that's what.
While still bemoaning last year’s departure of The White Stripes from this world, we’ve all found solace in White’s more recent work with The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.
His debut solo album’s first single, "Love Interruption", is now available for streaming after the jump, and you can also download the track on iTunes. The 7” release of the single, along with a B-side called "Machine Gun Silhouette" will be available on February 7th, and you can preorder it on Mr. White’s website as you await the album’s full release on April 23rd/24th.

Watch Radiohead Perform "Supercollider" + "New" Radiohead Single Out On 12/19
It feels like it's been awhile since we've heard from the greatest band in the world Radiohead (totally objective statement!), but they've been in the process of rolling out new and exotic dates for their 2012 tour, which you can check out over here.
While we wait for one of those dates to read "New York City Holy Shit," the band has unleashed an outtake from the TKOL Live From The Basement session broadcast from over the summer: a live performance of the slinky Record Store Day single "Supercollider." Check it out after the jump, and you can also see it on the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release of the Basement session next year.
In other news, the two other non-TKOL tracks we've heard to date - "Staircase" and "The Daily Mail" - will be bundled together in a new single set to be released... next Monday (12/19)! So that's also quite cool. You can preorder that single as well as the DVD/Blu-ray over at Radiohead's store, and you can check out video of both songs below the jump as well because why not.

Listen To AIR's "Seven Stars" Feat. Victoria LeGrand (Beach House)
As we reported recently, electronic-leaning Frenchmen AIR are coming back with a new album on February 6 entitled Le Voyage Dans La Lune. One of the key guests on this album is Victoria LeGrand, frontwoman of the comparably laid-back Beach House, and NME points to a stream of their collaborative track "Seven Stars."

Listen: Mark Lanegan -- "The Gravedigger's Song"
Gravelly-voiced Screaming Trees frontman and eternal badass Mark Lanegan has a new solo album, Blues Funeral, on deck for release on February 6 via 4AD, but you don't have to wait that long for a taste. Check out the album's first single, "The Gravedigger's Song," and the full tracklist after the jump - the song sounds like an unearthed cut from his work with Queens of the Stone Age, which is totally cool by me.

Listen: Pinback -- "True North" (Record Store Day Release)
Hey kids, hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving mini-vacation! A good portion of that likely consisted of you being inundated with Black Friday / Cyber Monday marketing messaging urging you to buy shit you likely don't need now immediately NOW, but there were indeed some really cool gems under the surface of all that.
For example - as part of Record Store Day, cult favorite San Diego rockers Pinback released part 2 of their Information Retrieved 7" trilogy, which is intended to hold us over until they f*&king finally release the full-length follow-up to 2007's Autumn of the Seraphs. And because the Internet exists, you can now listen to its A-side, "True North," after the jump; in typical Pinback fashion, it's gorgeous and awesome and making me antsy for everything to come. (Cheers to Stereogum for the heads up.)

Listen: Leonard Cohen -- "Show Me The Place"
Hey, remember the time world-renowned songwriter/poet/badass Leonard Cohen took a quick break from receiving an international literary award in Spain to mention that he's releasing a new album next year? That wasn't a tease, and now we have more details and the first new cut from the album below.
Old Ideas, Cohen's first new album since Dear Heather in 2004, will be out on January 31, feature 10 new songs (tracklist below), and be covered by that shot of the artist chilling on a lawn reading a book that you see above. You can preorder it over here in MP3, CD, Vinyl with CD, or Collector's Edition (Vinyl, CD, and a limited lithograph) to get a digital version of "Show Me The Place," which you can also stream after the jump in all its cool, gravelly glory.

FEAR To Release Christmas 7", Re-Recording Of "The Record" In 2012
Great news for oldschool punk fans - American punk pioneers FEAR are back with two new projects coming out at the end of this year and in early 2012.
The first is the digital and vinyl-only Black Friday exclusive Have Your Self A Merry Little Christmas 7", with the title track as the A-Side paired up with the classic "Another Christmas Beer" as the B-Side. The band will follow up this holiday cheer in the new year with the release of a re-recording of their blistering 1982 debut The Record that will be called, appropriately enough, The ReRecord. FEAR will tour extensively in support of the (re)record early next year as well, along with an appearance at the 2012 South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival in Austin, TX.
We'll keep you posted as we hear more about the tour dates for sure, but be sure to pick up the 7" next Friday (11/25) after your Thanksgiving festivities are over.

Sub Pop has announced that the alt-rock wizard will be releasing a 7" single next Tuesday (November 22) that will feature a cover of Edie Brickell's "Circle" on the A-Side, and - as a special B-side treat - a bonus track from Mascis' Several Shades of Why sessions called "I've Been Thinking," that was previously only available on the Japanese version of the album.

Shonen Knife Playing The Bell House On 11/18, Releasing A Christmas Single
![]() |
| I interviewed Naoko Yamano way back in the day, check it out! |
While we unfortunately missed Shonen Knife when they came to NYC for CMJ, the legendary Japanese punk rockers are giving us another chance a little over a week from now when they come back to rock The Bell House next Friday (11/18). Tickets are still available, so grab one and come have a beer with us at the show.
The band will also be wrapping up their yearlong 30th Anniversary celebration by releasing a new Christmas Maxi Single juuuuust after Thanksgiving on November 29. The single will include studio and acoustic cuts of the seasonally-appropriate song (accept it, Christmas is just a little over a month away) "Sweet Christmas," plus their take on the classic "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." (Thanks to BV for the tip)
Check out the single teaser below via Good Charamel. Since this is a Shonen Knife song, there is understandably some delicious cake involved.

Though we're not even close to its January 1 release date (don't let the weather report tell you otherwise), we've already got our second streaming track from Guided By Voices' upcoming album Let's Eat The Factory. Entitled "Doughnut For A Snowman," it's both calmer than the previously-leaked "The Unsinkable Fats Domino" and sounds like a pretty good way to waste a doughnut.
