The Chemical Brothers Concert Film "Don't Think" Premiering On January 26
As an absolute sucker for films focused on enduring and awesome electronic acts ('sup Daft Punk's Interstella 5555), I'm psyched to share that the new concert film from The Chemical Brothers, Don't Think, will be hitting theatres in 2012. Lucky fans in 20 cities worldwide will get an advance screening of the film on January 26 and can pick up tickets for the screenings over here.
The movie is a fully immersive documentary on the British electronic duo's performance at Japan's Fujirock Festival from late July, and the site describes it thusly:
You blink awake and find yourself halfway up the side of a Japanese mountain. It’s night time, right at the sticky middle point of summer. You’re in an opening in a darkened wood surrounded by – say – 50,000 other revelers, each of them frenzied; delirious from an all-encompassing psychedelia that seems to be emanating from a stage somewhere in the near distance. Above you, lights swoop and strafe across armies of marching toy robots and galloping deconstructed horses; paint balls explode in front of borderline psychotic clowns. You’re in the thick of it, consumed by the spectacle, absorbed into the crowd, surrendering to the noise and the visuals. Stunned by the jaw-dropping intensity of what you’re witnessing, just one thought flashes through your febrile mind.
Don’t Think. Just let it flow.
Sounds fucking awesome. But don't just take their word for it - check out the trailer and maybe bring a pacifier or something. I also posted the video for "Star Guitar" below because I felt like it.

Blonde Redhead To Release Japan Benefit Album (Feat. Deerhunter, Interpol, & More)
![]() |
| Check out more photos of Blonde Redhead and Interpol at Terminal 5 back in May! |
Hometown indie rock mainstays Blonde Redhead are no stranger to good causes - earlier this year, they co-hosted a benefit for Sickday Safety Net with NYC contemporaries Interpol over at Terminal 5. And now the trio are set to release a project that goes far beyond the five boroughs to bring aid to Japan.
The island nation is still struggling to right itself following the massive March earthquake and subsequent tsunami that ravaged its coastline, and in solidarity with Japan's ongoing efforts to rebuild, Blonde Redhead will release the benefit album We Are The Works In Progress on January 10.
The band has assembled what amounts to a Justice League of their awesome peers to contribute tracks to the project, like the aforementioned Interpol, Broadcast, Liars, Four Tet, and Future Nostalgia postermen Deerhunter. Per the album's title, all of the songs are exclusives, B-sides, and alternate cuts that are largely works in progress. So in addition to helping provide funds for such agencies as the Japan Earthquake Relief Fund and Architecture For Humanity, it provides a cool opportunity to see what some of our favorite acts are working on right now.
Check out the tracklist below via PFork, and we'll keep you posted on any more news about the project.
