Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog @ Brooklyn Bowl - December 13, 2011
Photos: Carrie Jordan
You may not know him by name, but I guarantee you've heard guitarist Marc Ribot perform on at least one record in your collection, having made appearances with Tom Waits, Cibo Matto, Elvis Costello, The Black Keys and Elton John to name a few. The last time we caught his latest band Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog was back in September when they played All Tomorrow's Parties I'll Be Your Mirror in Asbury Park. Since then, Ribot and the band (bassist Shahzad Ismaily and drummer Ches Smith of Secret Chiefs 3) have been sporadically making appearances in the New York City area, the latest being this past Tuesday at Brooklyn Bowl.
If you missed the show, you have several chances to catch Marc Ribot in one iteration or another in New York City over the next few months. Check out all future dates Marc Ribot has on his calendar, as well as a full set of photos of Ceramic Dog's Brooklyn Bowl performance by our photographer Carrie Jordan below...

On Saturday and Sunday night both The Supersuckers and openers Nashville Pussy took over Maxwell's & The Bell House in Brooklyn for two nights of raucous, sludgy rock ‘n’ roll. The Supersuckers, the self-proclaimed greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world, are currently on a massive tour that will take them out to the west coast and the southwest all the way through February of 2012. Photographer Carrie Jordan sent us a set of photos of both bands from Sunday’s Bell House show, and if they are any indication, it was a pretty wild time. Take a look at the shots below, and be sure to check out the remainder of The Supersuckers tour dates over at their website…

Hank Williams III @ Music Hall of Williamsburg - November 15, 2011

Hank Williams III (a.k.a. grandson of Hank Williams Sr., a.k.a. son of Hank Williams Jr.) took to Music Hall of Williamsburg to give a lengthy and eclectic performance to a packed Brooklyn crowd. Known as a man of many hats, Hank3 played a traditional country set with a full six-piece band to begin with, followed by a droney set as Hellbilly, and finally transforming into his latest metal/doom project, Attention Deficit Domination (no Assjack this time around). Photographer Carrie Jordan, who shot these photos for us, tells us that her ears are still bleeding and she can't stop grinning.
In 2011 alone, Hank3 has released four full length albums and has been touring extensively in support of them. Take a look at a full set of photos from the Brooklyn show and also check out the remainder of his tour dates below...

Fishbone @ Brooklyn Bowl – November 13, 2011
Photos: Carrie Jordan
On Sunday, the infamous ska/rock/funk/punk legends Fishbone took over Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Bowl to play two full sets—one acoustic (a rarity for the group) and one full on Fishbone-style. As evidenced by the photos, it appeared to be all the wackiness and insanity you’d expect from Angelo Moore (a.k.a. Dr. Madd Vibe) and company, who have been going strong in one formation or another since 1979. H.R., frontman for a little band named Bad Brains (who coincidentally also played an opening set for Big Audio Dynamite at Brooklyn Bowl last August), made a very special appearance with the band.
Fishbone released the EP Crazy Glue last month and are reportedly working on a new full length album, their first since 2006. Our photographer Carrie Jordan caught both shows for us, and you can take a look at her photos below…
