Photos/Review: ATP I'll Be Your Mirror (London, UK) Day One

All Tomorrow's Parties I'll Be Your Mirror (London UK) Day One - May 25, 2012
Photos/Review: Rhona "Wiglet Bill" Aquilina

On a beautiful sunny Friday we made our way to north London’s Alexandra Palace for this years ATP sister event I’ll Be Your Mirror. The doors open at 4pm, but we have come for early check-in at 2pm. We are provided our wristbands and have two hours to enjoy a cool drink in the lush parkland surrounding the palace on this unseasonably warm May afternoon.

When the doors open we file into the Palm Court entrance (named so because of the indoor palms growing there) and unsurprisingly it is oppressively hot inside. After briefly checking out the merchandise stands we head back out into the park to the relative cool, to pass the time until the first act of the weekend take the stage.

FN News Morning Roundup: March 14, 2012

Special morning edition of the News Roundup, with stuff I compiled yesterday as well as some new stuff. Stuff!

  • Download the Melvins' new EP, The Bulls & The Bees, for free courtesy of Scion AV, and watch the video for leadoff track "The War On Wisdom" below! (BrooklynVegan)
  • ::deep breath:: THERE'S GOING TO BE A NEW BOARDS OF CANADA ALBUM SOON! (Prefix Mag)
  • You can stream Port of Marrow, the new album from The Shins, if you feel like it. (Consequence of Sound)
  • The leadoff single from Lotus Plaza's upcoming album, "Strangers," is my new favorite thing at the moment - perfect for the warm weather here in NYC. Pick up Spooky Action At A Distance when it drops on April 2, which is soon!(Kranky)
  • Whistling Chicagoan Andrew Bird stopped by The Colbert Report last night for a typically hilarious interview, after which he performed "EyeonEye" and "Danse Caribe" from Break It Yourself (Pitchfork)

Fucking Nostalgic News Roundup: March 6, 2012

It's News Roundup O'Clock! So far it's been a pretty weird day overall - check out updates from MELVINS, Atlas Sound, Ceremony, and more below:

  • Guess what? You can now bid on a piece of MELVINS / Nirvana history: the MELVAN (pictured above), featuring a KISS mural drawn by Kurt Cobain and a registration signed by MELVINS bassist Matt Lukin (EBay)

  • Deerhunter / Atlas Sound mastermind Bradford Cox apparently went pretty nuts at Minneapolis's Cedar Cultural Center and played an hour-long version of "My Sharona" over the weekend (Pitchfork)

  • Ceremony are playing a late show at Mercury Lounge on April 23 following their opening set for Refused at T5 - tickets are on sale tomorrow. (BrooklynVegan)

  • Three-Day Passes for the Crossing Brooklyn Ferry Festival tickets are on sale right now!

All Tomorrow's Parties Announces I'll Be Your Mirror London 2012 Festival

What the WHAT?!

Oh, All Tomorrow's Parties. Your I'll Be Your Mirror Festival in Asbury Park, NJ feels like just yester(day 1, day 2, day 3). And today the venerable festival promoters have confirmed the second UK I'll Be Your Mirror event, to be held in London's Alexandra Palace from May 25-27, 2012.

And have they got some cool stuff planned for you Londoners. Not only is the festival curated by Mogwai (who we're still waiting to see in NYC...), but it'll be headlined by Guided By Voices (with new material!) and will feature Slayer performing Reign In Blood in its entirety on the first night of the festival. Other acts confirmed so far include Sleep, Melvins, the reunited Codeine (!!!!!), Mudhoney (!!), and easy Future Nostalgia contenders Yuck. Damn, you guys.

Tickets go on sale this Friday (11/11) at 10am GMT - check out ATP's page for a breakdown of single day and weekend pass prices. Oh, and did we mention there's a trailer for the Slayer portion of the event? Because there is, and you can check it out after the jump.
