FN News Roundup: April 13, 2012

Cloud Nothings @ Mercury Lounge, 3/27/12

Happy Friday the 13th, Jason Voorhees! It's been a crazy awesome and packed week, and I'm betting most of you are mentally (if not physically) already at a happy hour to cap it off. If you want to whet your appetite for the epic 1st Anniversary party we're throwing down next Saturday, you should come out to Spike Hill in Williamsburg starting at 7pm for a Pop Up Gallery featuring our friends at Liquid Light Lab, who will give you a taste of the lightshow skills they'll be throwing down at our gathering.

Meanwhile, have some news to read:

  • Future Nostalgia contenders Cloud Nothings, who recently rocked our faces off live at Mercury Lounge, have released a trippy animated video for Attack On Memory anthem "Stay Useless" - check it out after the jump! (MTVU)

  • The Ramones' very own Joey Ramone is releasing his sophomore LP, ...Ya Know?, on May 22, despite the notable handicap of having ben deceased for over a decade. Check out its leadoff track "Rock 'N' Roll Is The Answer" below, which will be available as a red vinyl 7" on Record Store Day (Slicing Up Eyeballs)

  • Bummed you're not out in California at Coachella this weekend? Well you can still watch it online, dummy! But be sure to go outside at least, as the weather here in NYC is getting great (Coachella)

  • ...But hey, if you ARE there, you might get to see the long-dead Tupac perform as a hologram too. Because THAT's not a desecration of his legacy or anything (Consequence of Sound)

  • In happier hip-hop news: it's the 20th anniversary of The Pharcyde's classic album Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, and the group will be releasing a deluxe-edition singles box set with instrumentals, remixes, a poster, a puzzle (??), and more. The box even plays part of "Oh Shit" when it opens. THAT's attention to detail (Pitchfork)

  • And finally, bliss out in this nice weather with the new Beach House single, "Lazuli," over here! (Stereogum)
