FN News Roundup: March 27, 2012

Dinosaur Jr. @ Terminal 5, 6/24/11

What's up?

  • On May 8, the White Wizard of Indie Rock J. Mascis is releasing the self-titled debut LP for Heavy Blanket, a band he formed with Johnny Pancake and Pete Cougar a loooong time ago while he was in the hardcore outfit Deep Wound. Check out the face-melting first single, "Dr. Marten's Blues" after the jump (Prefix)

  • I really ought to just make a new series called "Hat Tips To Jimmy Fallon's Music Supervisor," as (s)he got British alt-rockers Swervedriver to stop by Late Night last night to rock through "Son Of Mustang Ford" and "Deep Wound." Check the videos after the jump - you'd be a fool not to catch them at Bowery Ballroom on March 31 (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon)

  • Ty Segall and White Fence have teamed up on a new collaborative LP, Hair, that'll be out on April 29. And if the awesomely psychedelic leadoff single "I Am Not A Game" is any indication, you should get VERY excited. They'll be here to rock Webster Hall on May 16 - grab yourself a ticket! (Drag City)

  • Blur frontman Damon Albarn has always been legendarily busy (at least now there's some Blur on his schedule). You can check out "The Marvelous Dream" - the lead single off of the upcoming soundtrack to his opera Dr. Dee (May 8 via Virgin) - streaming below (Consequence of Sound

  • Kinda hard to believe that Billy Corgan does anything these days other than launch pro wrestling companies, open teahouses in Chicago suburbs, and piss on bands that began later than his did. But yeah, The Smashing Pumpkins are releasing Oceania - the "album within the album" of the 44-song Teargarden By Kaleidoscope - via EMI on June 19 (A.V. Club)
