Beck continues his streak of producing records for veteran indie artists. Matador Records has just announced that the fifth album from Stephen Malkmus with his band the Jicks will be released on August 23rd and will be entitled Mirror Traffic. Matador promises that “Mirror Traffic is the album that ties together Stephen’s skill-set like none of its predecessors.” With Beck on production duties, I’m sure this will be a vastly different sound than we’ve previously heard from Malkmus.
Matador goes on to confirm that the album will be the final Jicks album to feature former Sleater-Kinney and current Wild Flag drummer Janet Weiss. Jake Morris of the Joggers will take her place on a tour that is expected to be announced shortly. Can’t wait for those shows! In the meantime, bask in the glory of the awesome album artwork above.
